When my dad introduced me to Encompass Fitness classes two years ago, I was immediately hooked. Since then I have been attending regularly; I always look forward to going, and it is the only thing I’ve stuck to for this long.

The coaches are amazing, and the fit fam is always a blast to work out with. The best part is I can bring my kids sometimes while I work out, and I’ve gained lots of new mom friends through watching their little ones. There is no question I’ve learned so much and have gained a ton of strength and mobility through these classes..

However, I was slowly and steadily gaining weight even though my fitness level was at the highest it’s ever been (which is apparently more normal than you’d think). After about 9 months of classes, and competing at FemSport with fellow encompass ladies, I decided my nutrition needed a boost. I participated in a 28 day kickstart program and loved it. I lost 10 lbs and continued following the program guidelines for a few weeks afterward.

My progress was amazing until we ripped out our kitchen for a major renovation. This led to lots of cinnamon buns, pizza pops, and junk food for all meals of the day. I used this as an excuse to eat terribly and gained all the weight back and more, even though I was still working out regularly. During a very busy summer with my husband working out of town I ate even more terribly - chips, ice cream, fast food. I did not want to cook for one, so I didn’t! I was also stressed and lonely and was definitely emotional eating. I competed at another Femsport event, and had a blast, however, I was much more sluggish and tired! My poor nutrition was affecting other areas. Then came another kickstart. This time I decided this was it. No more excuses.

Following the kickstart I decided to participate in the new BLAST Nutrition Program with Kim and all I can say is - WOW!  I am down 21 lbs, and many inches in less than 5 months and I am so happy. I am on a high after a tearful check in with Kim and feeling very proud. I feel amazing, have loads of energy, my clothes fit better, and the best part is I am still eating treats!

Learning to find this balance, be mindful, and put together meals and snacks properly has changed my life. I had been working hard on my fitness for so long but I was lacking the fuel I needed for that spark.

I now enjoy my workouts even more, and have energy to be active with my kids and be more productive in my daily life. Nutrition is so important but it is SO HARD to figure out sometimes. I needed a coach and am so glad I made that decision to do a nutrition program. I have my off days but it is so much easier to get back on track and continue to see results. I can’t thank Kim and Encompass enough for changing my lifestyle over these past two years.
