After having back surgery a few years ago, Kyla was hesitant to start an exercise program as she was afraid of injuring her back again.

Kyla’s goal wasn’t to be better than anyone else, but to be better than she used to be - and she certainly achieved it!

  • No more heartburn pills

  • No more losing her breath walking up the stairs (she runs them now)

  • No issues or pain tying her shoes

  • Getting in and out of vehicles is a breeze

How did she do it?

“ I had a couple of friends that went to Encompass and I thought it’d be good to give it a try. I had back surgery a few years back and was kind of scared to start an exercise program and hurt my back again, and I hadn’t really done a whole lot since surgery. I loved that there was no pressure to keep up with anyone else around you -  you work at your own speed and at your own level which I loved because it let me understand my body better. I’m so glad I followed my friends’ lead to get started and now have a regular schedule of classes I attend.

The scale didn’t move as much and the measurements didn’t decrease as much as I would have liked them to but wow, do I feel great! I haven’t felt this good in years.

I travel a lot for work so having the knowledge of what I can do to pre-plan so I don’t get “off track” while I’m on the road has helped a lot. Now, I have pre-packed snacks instead of grabbing whatever from the gas station. I also have my handy hotel workout along so I can head to the gym in the hotel before we head out for the day or go for a run/walk around the town we are staying in.

For anyone that has had back surgery or any kind of surgery – I’d say give it a shot, start out slow & light, and eventually work your way up. You will gradually get stronger and not even realize how strong you have gotten. If an exercise hurts or bothers you, there are modified exercises that can be done and you can still get a workout and feel better.

I really enjoy being a part of the Fit Fam, whether it’s the 6 am morning crew or the lunch bunch crew, everyone is there for their own reasons! The coaches are A-mazing and truly want to see you succeed in your goals.”
