After hearing about the program from some co-workers who had experienced success, Tami and Tannissy also wanted to learn more about nutrition and how to eat properly for themselves and their own bodies. They joined the 6 Month Life Program together and were incredibly successful. Despite being faced with many challenges during the program, they learned how to fuel their bodies properly while maintaining a healthy perspective on balance, health, and life.
We caught up with both of them and this is what they had to say;
Tami, “I completed this program with my teenage daughter. My goal was to lose weight but ultimately to teach myself and my family about nutrition. We followed the customized portion sizes and attended our weekly individual meetings and had great success with the program. About mid-way through the program I wanted to quit but pushed through and finished it. I am thankful for the accountability of the program. I didn’t always eat the “right” foods or portion sizes, but learning about them definitely helped and I learned to find a balance. A part of this was also learning that you do not have to kill yourself by working out 7 days a week to be able to get the results you are looking for. Nutrition really does play a big role; I lost 9 pounds and 5 inches off my stomach.”
Tanissy, “I initially joined this because my mom encouraged me to do it with her. Over the course of the program learned about food and health and I actually started to really enjoy the program. Even through summer holidays and other happenings I managed to lose weight by making smart choices and be more conscious over the summer. I was able to go camping, hang out with friends, and still go for lunch and while making healthier choices. Overall, I have more energy, learned about nutrition, and I I lost 16.5 pounds and 12 inches”
Unfortunately, Tami and Tannissy experienced some hardships during the program, experiencing both a death in the family and an illness in the family that drew Tami away from home for a few months. Tami spent those 2 months in hotels and hospitals caring for family members, but with support and guidance she kept her health a priority and managed to care for herself while caring for others. For Tannissy, having her mother away and having to do her own meal prepping and make her own meals was difficult but they both managed to stay healthy and have a better understanding of what that meant, and how to set themselves up for success despite difficult circumstances.
Tami and Tannissy are looking forward to continuing to apply what they learned together in the program to continue to make health conscious choices, and feel that even if they find themselves drawn to unhealthy habits and choices, they can easily pull out all of the resources they gained during the program and get on the right track again.
We are so proud of these two ladies who decided to do something for themselves, and to do something together. The ability to make healthy choices is such an important skill, and is particularly meaningful when you can make the right choices and teach self love and celebrate a healthy body image together. They certainly proved that even though the amount of excuses or reasons to not take care of yourself can be a mile long; it is worth it and possible!!
